Indian cricket star player Virat Kohli is currently making a splash in the IPL. His team has also reached the final of Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL 2025. Now he is just 1 step away from the title. Meanwhile, he has suffered a big shock. In Bengaluru, Kohli’s pub, One8 Commune (One8 Commune) has once again faced legal action. This time a case has been registered against the pub under the Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) 2003. This pub is located on the sixth floor of the Ratnam complex in Bangalore, which is on Kasturba Road, close to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The police had received a complaint that the rules of the smoking area were being violated in the One 8 Commune Pub. Subsequently, on 1 June 2025, Kabban Park Police Station registered an FIR against the manager of the pub. During the investigation, it was found that the necessary rules regarding the smoking sector in the pub were not being followed, which is a violation of the provisions of the COTPA Act. Under this Act, strict rules for smoking have been determined in public places, and not following them is considered a legal offense.
This is not the first time One 8 commune pub is implicated in legal controversies. Earlier in July 2024, the Bengaluru Police took action against this pub. At that time, an FIR was registered to keep the pub open even after 1 pm and serve the customers, which was a violation of the rules of the city. In addition, in December 2024, the Greater Bengaluru Metropolitan Municipality (BBMP) issued a notice to the pub for violation of the fire safety rules. BBMP had alleged that the pub did not have the required No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the fire department, and was asked to respond within seven days. Let me tell you, One 8 Commune, Virat Kohli has a famous restaurant and pub chain, which has branches in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru.
