M. Sundar, who was the father of Washington Sundar, wanted to play cricket. But, despite playing good cricket, he could not come to the main team of Tamil Nadu. But, when he was small and went to play stadium cricket, there used to be a retired officer of an army. He used to see children playing. Among those children, there was also an M. Sundar, whose game was more impressed by the game. In such a situation, the retired officer told M. Sundar that you play. I will teach you, give kitbag, I will leave school on a bicycle. This was done by the retired officer because M. Sundar was from the poor family. It was difficult for him to maintain the expenditure on studies and cricket.
Washington became like this, even as a Hindu
The name of that retired officer who helped M. Sundar was- P.D. Washington, who dies in 1999. In 1999 itself, M. Sundar’s wife gives birth to a boy, in whose ear M. Sundar says- Srinivasan. But, then after a while he feels that it should not be named Srinivasan. Rather, the boy should be named after the person who backed him. He was supported when no one was giving. And, he names his boy – Washington Sundar.
