Sai Sudarshan has broken the 89 -year record by hitting a brilliant half -century in the Manchester Test. After a flop in the Leeds Test match, in the last two Tests, head coach Gautam Gambhir had dropped him out of the playing XI, but in the fourth Test match he made a comeback and gave a great reply to his critics by putting a brilliant fifty. He scored 61 runs in 151 balls in the first innings of the fourth Test match with the help of 7 fours. However, he could not convert his innings into a century. He regrets this. He said that after the Leeds Test match, when I was out of playing XI, I was very disappointed, because I wanted to play every match. After this I changed my mindset and focused on my game. I wanted to perform well for the team on my return and I did so in Manchester.
He said that I do not like to sit on the bench. So I changed my mindset and worked hard. Sai Sudarshan broke the 89 -year -old record by scoring a brilliant 61 runs in Manchester. In the year 1936, in Manchester, former Indian player Kotar Ramaswamy scored 60 runs while batting at number-3. Sai Sudarshan has scored 61 runs and left behind Ramaswamy and reached the third number in this list.
Flops were made in debut match
Sai Sudarshan got a chance to debut in the first Test match played against England in Leeds, but he was completely flopped in this Test match. He could not even open an account in the first innings, while in the second innings he returned to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs.
After this, he was dropped from the playing XI at Edgbaston and Lords and Karun Nair was sent to bat on number-3, but after Karun Nair flopped, Sai Sudarshan once again got a chance to bat on number-3. This time he did not let the opportunity go and hit a brilliant fifty.
