Cricket fans are eagerly waiting for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to return to the ground, but their wait is increasing. These two players, who have retired from Test and T20 cricket, will now be seen playing only in ODIs, but when will Team India play ODI series? Its decision has not been decided yet. However, the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) may soon take some decisions in this matter. After two days, BCCI and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials are going to meet in the annual meeting of the International Cricket Council (ICC). In this, some decisions can be made about the ODI series.
BCCI and SLC meeting will be decided
Team India is currently busy playing a five -match Test series against England. This series will end on August 2. After this, the Indian team was going to visit Bangladesh, but now this tour has been postponed till next year. After this, Sri Lanka proposed to play three ODIs and three T20I series from BCCI. Although no decision has been taken on this too, Sri Lanka cricket hopes that during the ICC meeting to be held in Singapore after two days, there may be some decision on the series between the two boards.
A senior SLC official told Telecom Asia Sport that we have received positive response. We hope to take some decision on this within two or three days. According to reports, a BCCI official says that we will decide soon to play the series from Sri Lanka, but it is difficult to have a series.
When will Rohit and Virat return?
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli played the last ODI on 9 March 2025. The match was the final of the Champions Trophy, in which India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets and won the title after 12 years. After this, Team India has not played any ODI match.
Earlier, after winning the T20 World Cup title last year, both these players took retirement from T20I. After this, Rohit and Virat also said goodbye to Test cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In such a situation, he will take the field only to play ODI matches.
India will play 6 ODIs this year
Team India will play three ODIs against Australia and South Africa this year. Earlier, after the postponement of Bangladesh tour, Sri Lanka wants to play ODI and T20 series from Team India, but this skepticism is still hovering. In such a situation, the wait to see Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the field may increase further.
