Jasprit Bumrah’s 5 wickets, KL Rahul’s century and the combative half -century in both innings of Ravindra Jadeja were also not enough to win Team India in Lord’s Test. Host England defeated Team India by a close margin of just 22 in the last match of the Test series at this historic ground. If the post mortem of this defeat of Team India, many different reasons can come out, but Indian captain Shubman Gill paid special attention to two mistakes and blamed him.

In the Lord’s Test match, Team India had a target of 193 runs for England, in response to which the Indian team had lost 4 wickets by the end of the fourth day and only 58 runs could be scored. In such a situation, Team India needed 135 runs on the last day, while it had only 6 wickets in their account. But in the first session of the last day, Team India had lost 4 wickets, which had confirmed the defeat. Jaspreet Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj’s partnerships with Ravindra Jadeja raised the hope of victory for the team but it was not enough.

Captain Shubman Gill’s disappointment was clearly visible after the defeat by just 22 runs. Even in such circumstances, he did not refrain from talking openly on the reasons of this defeat. In the press conference after the match, captain Gill put two important points, which proved to be important in Team India’s defeat in this match. The Indian captain said, “One hour of yesterday (fourth day) and one hour today we did not play well. The top order did not last at all. The top order should have been scored at least 30-40 runs. But this was the first time when (in this series) the top order failed.”

After this, captain Gill also talked about the aspect, which proved to be a big difference between India and England. This was- extra run. Team India gave a total of 63 runs as extra in this match, out of which 36 runs came from Bai. In this too, 25 Bai’s runs came in the second innings. In contrast, England gave only 30 runs in both innings in extra, in which only 3 runs came from Bai. Gill said without mentioning the wicketkeeper, “We got better in fielding but still made some unnecessary mistakes. We could stop some boundary. Still it was worth achieving the goal.”
