In the fifth Test played against England at the Oval, India won an exciting six runs and equalized the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2–2. This victory was a historic moment for the Indian cricket team, especially when veteran players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli recently retired. But despite this magnificent victory, Indian players decided not to celebrate after the Oval Test.
Why did Team India not celebrate victory?
This series of five Test matches was very challenging for the Indian team. The Indian team led by young captain Shubman Gill performed brilliantly against a strong team like England. After the dramatic end of the series, it was expected that there would be a festive atmosphere in the Indian dressing room. But the players gave priority to comfort and spend time with family instead of celebration. A BCCI source told PTI, ‘There was no major celebration last night. It was a long and tiring series. The players spent time alone or with their family. Most of the players are now returning to India, while some are going to holiday in other places.
Players’ journey of homecoming
In less than 24 hours after the end of the series, many players have left for return home. Mohammad Siraj, who played an important role in India’s victory with five wickets in the last Test, will fly to Hyderabad via Dubai. Arshdeep Singh and Shardul Thakur were also among the players who left by flight on Tuesday morning. After reaching Dubai, the players will take connecting flights to their respective homes.
Some players chose break
Many players have decided to take a break in England instead of returning to India. Arshdeep Singh and the famous Krishna, who did not play a single match in the series, were seen spending time with their families in London after the last Test. Kuldeep Yadav, who too did not get a chance to play in this series, was seen walking in London with former India spinner Piyush Chawla.
