The final of the World Test Championship 2025 will begin between Australia and South Africa from 11 June. The result of this final will decide who will be the champion of Test cricket. The final of this tournament is being played for the first time at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. By the way, this final will also be played with all other Test matches. But just one difference will be seen in this final and this is- Reserve Day. The ICC has made a provision of Reserve-Day for this final. But will the Reserve Day be used in the event of the result in 5 days? Let us also tell you the answer.
The final of the World Test Championship will be played from 11 June to 15 June at Lord’s. Like every Test match, this will also be a 5 -day match. But there is also a provision of Reserve-Day for this match, as is for the final of every ICC tournament. But this reserve-day will be only one day. That is, Australia-South Africa’s Test match can last for 6 days. But will the match be played for a full 6 days to achieve the result of the final? If the decision is not taken in 5 days, will the sixth day be used?
What is the rule of reserve day?
The answer is very straightforward and simple- no. The match will not last for 6 days to achieve the result in this final. This match is to be played from 11 to 15 June and on 16 June has been kept as a reserve-day. But it will be used only in a situation when the game is not completed due to weather or any other reason in the first 5 days. If one day a day is washed away due to rain or many overs get worse and the result does not come, then in that case, the sixth day i.e. Reserve Day will be used. That is, the matter is clear- the match is only 5 days and there will be an attempt to decide the champion. The sixth day will be used only when needed.
