The new cycle of the World Test Championship (WTC) has started and with this changes have also started in some big rules related to cricket. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has recently made some changes in the ‘match playing conditions’ and has shown the effect of a special change. A player was eliminated from the middle of the first Test match between Zimbabwe and the World Test Champion South Africa. These players are Bryan Bennett of Zimbabwe, who got injured during batting and will now be out of the field for 7 days.
Host Zimbabwe’s innings began on the second day of the first Test against South Africa in Bulawayo. Brian Bennett and T Kitano opened for the team. Kitano was out in the first over, which was dismissed by fast bowler Kodi Yusuf. Then in the fifth over, Yusuf also returned Nick Welch to the pavilion. After losing 2 wickets for just 23 runs, Zimbabwe was in trouble. His tension increased shortly in a short time when Benett suddenly had to go out of the field.
In fact, in the sixth over of the innings, Bennett tried to play hook shot on the last ball of left -handed pacer Quena Mafaka but failed. The ball directly got loud on his helmet and he sat on the pitch. Immediately the physio came on the ground and examined him for a long time. However, Benett then agreed to play further. In the next over, he also faced 3 balls.
But after the first ball of the 8th over, suddenly he decided to go out of the field and returned retired. Shortly after, a statement was issued by Zimbabwe Cricket, saying that Bennett has been conceived, due to which he has been out of this match. The board announced to include Prince Masavore in the playing XI as his replacement. Before retiring hurt, Bennett scored 19 runs in 28 balls and was seen in good rhythm.
With being out of this match, Bennett will not be able to return to the cricket ground for at least the next 7 days. The reason for this is the recent announcement of the ICC, which it has made in the convention rules. A major change has been made in the rules of concentration in internal cricket along with the new WTC cycle started with the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh Test series. The ICC has made it clear that if a player struggles with concentration during the match and he is subsidized by another player in the match, then the injured player will not be able to return to the field for at least 7 days. In this way Brian Bennett has become the first player to be out under this new rule.
