The first day of the second Test match started between England and India in Edgbaston was exciting. India captain Shubman Gill’s brilliant century and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s innings, India batted strongly. England captain Ben Stokes won the toss and decided to bowl first, but the Indian batsmen challenged his strategy. Team India was working in scoring 310 runs till the end of the first day’s play. At the same time, the England team took 5 wickets.
Captain Gill’s century innings
The first day of Edgbaston Test was named after Indian captain Shubman Gill. Gill remained unbeaten after scoring 114 runs. He faced a total of 216 balls and also hit 12 fours. Due to this captaincy innings of Gill, the Indian team managed to cross the 300 -run mark on the first day. This is Gill’s second century in this series. Earlier, he scored 147 runs in the first innings of the Leeds Test. On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal once again managed to get the team a good start. But he missed a century this time. Jaiswal scored 87 runs off 107 balls, which included 13 fours.
However, KL Rahul could not make the total special in this innings. He lost his wicket by scoring 2 runs off 26 balls, due to which Team India lost their first wicket for 15 runs. After this, Karun Nair got a good start, but he too could not score a big score and returned to the pavilion after scoring 31 runs. Apart from these, Rishabh Pant could not even move forward by 25 runs and was caught out due to playing big shots. Nitish Reddy, playing the first match in the series, could not take advantage of the opportunity and lost his wicket by scoring 1 run.

Chris Woakes bowled very well on the first day of the game for England. Chris Woakes threw 21 overs and took 2 wickets for 59 runs. He made KL Rahul and Nitish Reddy their victims.
